Dam safety risk assessment

Through our work with Hydro Tasmania, we fully understand the balance between the legal and commercial implication of safe dam ownership and the costs associated with risk reduction. Our unique skills and experience allow us to work closely with other dam owners in assessing risk and in proposing cost-effective structural and non-structural solutions for risk reduction.

The dam safety risk assessment services offered by Hydro Tasmania Consulting include:

  • identification of potential hazards
  • assessment of risk by assigning probabilities to failure modes
  • dambreak modelling (1 and 2 dimensional) and inundation mapping
  • assessment of consequences in terms of potential loss of life, financial loss and environmental damage
