Construction planning, support and project management
Hydro Tasmania investigated, designed and constructed all of its assets within Tasmania. Although Hydro Tasmania no longer builds dams, its consulting business, Hydro Tasmania Consulting, has the experience, understanding and capability to provide construction advice relating to dam construction. This experience has been used recently on dam engineering projects within Australia and internationally, particularly in the area of construction planning, river diversion strategies and resolution of construction difficulties.
Construction planning services include:
- construction methods - optimisation, including 'paper builds'
- construction equipment - selection/development
- scheduling - design and procurement as well as construction
- cost estimation.
Hydro Tasmania Consulting has also provided design resources to large dam construction sites to provide an ongoing design presence. This is particularly relevant to fast-tracked projects or projects delivered as an alliance. The services provided by these resources have included design changes, inspections and quality control, design of temporary works and specialist advice relating to dam engineering.
In addition to dam engineering projects, Hydro Tasmania Consulting has delivered several other large-scale projects, including wind farms, transmission lines, major upgrades to power stations and headworks, and preparing Hydro Tasmania to enter the National Electricity Market. The project management and program management skills developed as part of the successful delivery of these projects are available to our clients.
