Detailed design and documentation of dams
Hydro Tasmania Consulting has been involved in various aspects of the engineering of small and large dams for clients in Australia and overseas. Our experience runs the full breadth of dam engineering and includes expertise in embankment dams, arch dams and concrete gravity dams.
Our experience, capability and state-of-the-art engineering facilities enable us to offer our clients a 'one-stop shop' for all their dam engineering needs.
In Tasmania we have investigated, designed and constructed a wide range of facilities for Hydro Tasmania (who now owns and operates them):
- 40 ICOLD large dams
- more than 90 smaller dams
- 27 hydropower stations
- 10 pumping stations
- a wide range of associated infrastructure (flumes, canals, tunnels, etc).
In addition to this record achievement in the dams engineering field in Tasmania, we have carried out a number of dam engineering assignments for public and private sector clients throughout other parts of Australia and internationally. With few large dams being constructed in recent times within Australia, Hydro Tasmania Consulting has had the privilege of undertaking detailed design and documentation for the Burnett Dam in Queensland and the Samson Brook Pipehead Dam in Western Australia. Hydro Tasmania Consulting has experience in delivering dam designs as a stand-alone design package, within a design and construct contract or as an alliance.
On the international front, we have carried out assignments in 17 countries for clients that include private infrastructure developers, utilities, national and state government organisations, contractors and international funding institutions.
